Health Homes at CODAC

SMART Management, Inc. would like to recognize and congratulate our esteemed customer/software partner CODAC Behavioral Healthcare for receiving a 3-year CARF accreditation for their Health Homes programs. Health Homes was established in 2010 as a part of the Affordable Care Act and aims to facilitate coordinated care for people with Medicaid who have chronic conditions such as addiction.

This program was developed as a state plan amendment and supported through a pilot project by the Center for Medicaid Services. Health Homes providers bring together:

Comprehensive care management
Care coordination
Health promotion
Comprehensive transitional care/follow-up
Patient & family support
Referral to community & social support services

In a recent Addiction Professional article, CODAC’s CEO Michael Rizzi was interviewed about the significance of integrating care with Health Homes, “The role of the health home is to coordinate, integrate and collaborate with primary care and specialty care physicians so that opioid treatment patients can enter the medical care system, be treated with respect and be encouraged to follow up.”

Software Installation in Ponce Puerto Rico

SMART’s Software Division is pleased complete the software installation for the government of Puerto Rico’s “Administración de Servicios de Salud Mental y Contra la Adicción” (ASSMCA). We are excited to welcome them as one of our newest software partners. ASSMCA chose SMART as the preferred EHR vendor for their eight substance use treatment programs that serve approximately 8,000 patients.

This most recent EHR software installation took place at ASSMCA’s Ponce Puerto Rico treatment location. Our team worked with twenty of ASSMCA’s associates and taught them how to implement a paperless system. SMART’s Software installation automated dispensing and DEA inventory management processes along with providing other paperless clinic features.

ASSMCA associates were amazing workers. SMART Customer Relations Specialist, Sandy Silva said of the experience, “This was one of my favorite implementations, we overcame language barriers and developed real relationships their medical and administrative teams.” We are pleased to have ASSMCA’s Ponce Puerto Rico location as one of our newest SMART Partners / Customers.

Installation at Organization for Recovery

Organization for RecoveryThe SMART Software Division is pleased to announce that Organization for Recovery of New Jersey (OFR) has chosen SMART as the EHR Software vendor for their location in Plainfield, NJ serving individuals pursuing recovery. They address all life areas, assisting the client in developing their recovery and becoming a more productive members of society.

While there, we worked closely with 25 OFR associates to implement paperless clinical, medical, and admissions processes. Everyone was amazing to work with and were eager to learn the paperless process with SMART’s Software. It was a great experience to see them learn SMART’s EHR and to see the operational difference after just a few days.

We are very pleased and honored to have Organization for Recovery’s trust and partnership. They selected SMART for our expertise in the field, our proven software model for the state of New Jersey, and for the references they received from our customers.

IT Hero Award at NJAMHAA

The team at SMART Management, Inc. and SMART Software are thrilled to congratulate Amr Osman, IT Manager for John Brooks Recovery Center (JBRC), on receiving the NJAMHAA IT Hero Excellence in Technology Award for his outstanding use of new technology. Our team has had the pleasure of working with JBRC since 2005.

Alan Oberman CEO at JBRC explained that when Amr first started with JBRC, “we made the Electronic Health Record the only chart and all personnel were instructed on its use. Amr assisted in training staff on accessing reports and using E-mail and other features of Microsoft Outlook.” Now almost 12 years later, he continues to be a valued team member who has been “instrumental in transitioning us to a more cost effective and streamlined backup system. He also installed a major upgrade to our clinical systems, accounting systems (QuickBooks enterprise system, and telecommunications- internet based). In the past few months he was a key member of our implementation team for an electronic computer based, payroll/ Human resources system.”

The IT Hero Award is given to leaders in the field that have exhibited qualities essential to encourage the development of technological advancements in the treatment and recovery sector, and Amr certainly embodies these qualities. Alan stated that, “Amr is a very loyal, honest, trustworthy, and hard working staff member that we at John Brooks Recovery Center appreciate very much. He is an asset to our organization in helping us fulfill our mission.”

Christmas with SMART

Each holiday season, President David Piccoli, II hosts the entire staff of SMART Management, Inc. and SMART Software for a festive company Christmas party. This year’s party was held at the Squantum Association in East Providence, Rhode Island. Associates enjoyed an evening of fine dining, dancing, music by DJ Dox Ellis, and getting their pictures taken at the Photo Boyz photo booth.

NJAMHAA IT Conference

The NJAMHAA IT Conference was held December 3, 2015 and attended by approximately 200 treatment professionals from all over the New Jersey area.

NJAMHAA is a community based system made up of members that work within the Behavioral Healthcare and Substance Abuse Treatment field. The conference focused on IT related issues faced by the treatment community.
